So proud of my man!

My boyfriend works at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.  He works in Team Ops and he really enjoys his job.

It turns out he is really good at his job (but I already knew that) because he received 2014 Employee of the Year for his department.  At the annual staff function he received an award and a really nice jacket.  He also received two tickets in a club suite for the Kenny Chesney concert.  Score!!!!

The concert was last night and we had such a great time.  The club suites are awesome and food and drinks were all included.  He really enjoyed being able to attend an event instead of working it and I enjoyed using a private powder room instead of leaving my seats to fight lines in the public bathrooms.  It was a win for both of us.

The down side of this is that I have now been spoiled and I will always need club suite seats for any event going forward……..ever.

But most important, I am so proud of my man!

Friends always know…

…when you need a pick me up.

I seriously have the best friends in the entire world, I am so lucky!

I have had a week from hell at work and then this beautiful bouquet of flowers are delivered to me at work from one of my girlfriends.  She is the sweetest most thoughtful person ever and I couldn’t be more grateful to have her in my life.

Sweet surprise

I showed up at my boyfriends house last night for what I thought was just a normal night of hanging out.  He opened the door dressed in a nice shirt and slacks and escorted me over to the dining room table, he even pulled out the chair for me to sit.  He had prepared a dinner for us and it really was the sweetest thing ever.

I asked him what the occasion was and he said just because he loves me and wanted to show me how much he appreciates me.  He drives me insane sometimes but then he does things like this that just make my heart melt.

I love this man!

I really can do anything!

Just about a year ago I was backing my car out of my boyfriends yard and wasn’t paying attention to how close I was to the gate at the end of his yard.  All of a sudden WHAM, I heard this gawd awful noise and looked over to see my side-view mirror ripped half off my car.  I was sooooo mad at myself, and I hadn’t even had my car for a year yet.

So I’ve been driving around for about a year with my car looking all white-trash-ghetto with the mirror falling apart and all taped up with electrical tape because I just assumed that I was going to end up spending a small fortune at the auto body shop and didn’t have the time or money to deal with it.

Then the other day my boyfriend called me to ask what year my car was because he was grabbing me a mirror at an auto parts shop.  Huh?  You can do that?  Well sure enough, doesn’t he show up with a brand spanking new side view mirror for my car and it only cost $30.  Seriously?

We YouTubed it and saw that it was going to be super easy to replace ourselves.  So that’s what we did.

Yup, $30 and ten minutes later my car looked good as new.

I wish we realized it was so simple a year ago…….geez, don’t I feel silly.

Bread and eggs and milk…..oh my!!!!

Omg there is a snow storm coming and everyone freaks out and clears the aisles at the supermarket.  Why do people freak out and gotta have their bread, eggs and milk?

I fortunately do not freak out when it comes to storms because I usually have plenty of pasta, soups, crackers, peanut butter and jelly, pop tarts etc. to last me if for some reason I’m stuck in the house for a couple of days.  So it always makes me laugh when I see the panic set in at the threat of any storm.

I also have plenty of candles, books, a deck of cards, and plenty of craft projects to keep me busy in case power is lost.  It doesn’t take much to be assured that you have no need to panic should a storm come your way.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama visited Boston

That’s right, the Dalai Lama came to Boston, and I got to check off a bucket list item.

It was several months ago that I posted about getting tickets and being able to check off a bucket list item, but I remember thinking how it seemed that I had to wait forever so I was excited when the time had finally come.

When he first came out on the stage I got goosebumps, then there was a musical presentation of traditional Tibetan song and dance and to my surprise, I got a bit choked up.  His speech was about “Educating the Heart and Mind” and it was fantastic.  It was difficult to understand some of what he was saying but I was able to understand quite a bit and really got a lot out of it.  I wasn’t expecting him to be so down to earth and he’s actually quite funny.

I don’t have much to share about it other than it was a fantastic experience, I couldn’t be more excited to finally see him and I was happy that my sister enjoyed it as well.

Wtf is Coulrophobia you ask?  Well, it is the fear of clowns and apparently many people have this phobia and it’s pretty intense.  I don’t have coulrophobia myself but I do have a huge fear of haunted houses, and I mean a seriously huge fear of them.  As in, I can’t even consider going in one because I am so terrified and I know it would scare the crap out of me and I might have a heart attack.

Oopsie the Clown

There is a haunted house in my area and it’s called Barrett’s Haunted Mansion.  It is a very popular attraction and it’s jam packed every season.  Every year it gets better and scarier and it has received a lot of media attention as one of the top haunted houses in New England.  Each year they change the theme and this year it was clowns, hence, coulrophobia.

My boyfriend works there as security and his sister and her husband work there as actors/characters.  They are Oopsie the Clown and Carl the Carver.  They look pretty badass right?

On a couple of occasions during the season Oopsie asked me if I was available to volunteer to be a character but it was unfortunately usually last minute and I wasn’t available.  Oddly enough, for having such a fear of haunted houses, I was dying to be a character in it.  I know, kind of weird.  Although Halloween IS my favorite holiday.  Again, weird for having such a horror phobia.  Yeah I never said I made much sense.

Carl The Carver

Carl the Carver

Anyway, I’m on vacation this week and she contacted me saying they needed more characters.  Well isn’t this awesome, I’m on vacation so I’m available!!!  Me and my boyfriend (who wasn’t working security this night) decided to head on in and have ourselves a scary good time.

We picked out costumes and had our makeup done.  As you can see in our picture below, I was obviously a cute clown while he was a scary gore clown.  It was a lot of fun and cool to see the behind the scenes with all the different characters and the makeup artist etc.

Once we got all dressed and made up, we were brought over to the attraction called The Cell.  This is next to the haunted house and it is FULL of clowns of all kinds.  Scary, cute, creepy etc.  It basically looks like concrete walls on the outside and inside is a maze made out of walls of bars, like a jail cell.    There is fog and creepy music and laser lights and an open top.  We were each assigned an area for the night and waited for the fun to begin.  It was cool because we were just two rows over from each other so we were able to have fun together and scare people together sometimes if they came down a wrong path of the maze that was between us.  I thought it was a great date night, tons of fun.  Yeah, I’m a cheap date.

We had a blast!  It was fun scaring people but I really was surprised at how some people have a genuine fear of clowns.  Some couldn’t even look at me without screeching, even if I wasn’t trying to scare them.  Like seriously, even if I just stood there, batting my eyes with a smile, they would scream and run away from me.  Am I twisted because I was actually enjoying this torture?  Maybe.  But hey, they paid to participate in the attraction knowing that it’s full of clowns so the way I see it, they got what they paid for.  And I was more than willing to oblige.

The irony is that I completely enjoyed doing to people exactly what I hate having done to me…….scare the crap out of them!!!!!  But then again, I’m smart enough to know my fears and stay away from them.

Aren’t I cute? Not scary right?

If you’re from the area be sure to check out Barrett’s Haunted Mansion next year, it will be their 24th season. Also, check out their facebook page and website for more information.

My first Tiny House tour!!!

This past Saturday I had the most awesome opportunity to actually go inside a Tiny House for the first time!!!!!  It was so exciting and now I’m even more motivated to get to the point where I can start building my own.

I had come across the Tiny House Giant Journey website a couple of months ago and I knew that they were going on a year tour around the U.S. and would be coming to New England, but I didn’t know when or if they would be coming through Boston.  Well Friday evening, a girl on a Facebook group mentioned to me that Jenna and Guillaume were going to be in Milton, MA on Saturday.

What?!?!?!?!  Milton?!?!?!?!  That’s fifteen minutes from my house!!!!!!  What’s the chance of that happening?

I had plans Saturday morning to go to my nieces soccer game at noon and the house tour was from 10am to noon, about a half hour away.  So I called my sister and asked if she was ok with me picking her up early because if we could get to Milton for 10am then we should have time to check out the house and still make it to the soccer game.  Of course she was game, she’s game for anything, and that’s why she’s so awesome!

So we got there just before 10am and was able to go right in and check it all out.  I have to say, I was surprised as to how roomy it felt for being a tiny house.  It was great to get an actual perspective of the feel inside a tiny house, other than the gazillion pictures and videos that I have been checking out online for almost two years now.  Now my sister on the other hand, wasn’t as excited and was feeling a bit claustrophobic.  She said there was NO WAY she could live in a tiny house but agreed that it was totally for me.

Jenna and Guillaume were super nice and very informative and helpful with all the questions that were thrown at them, and I learned a lot.

Here are a couple pictures I took, it really is a beautiful home.

My bucket list.

Since my recent post, Checking off a bucket list item, I decided I needed to create another bucket list since I have lost my original.  I remember many items on it but I also have a lot of new items to add.

I added a menu tab above with pages for different categories, so here’s what I have so far:

While writing this out I realized, boy I need to get my ass in gear!  I mean really, what’s the point of having a bucket list if you aren’t making a true effort to cross items off?  It’s not good enough just to be able to say “hey, I’m wicked cool because I have a bucket list”.  You have to actually try to accomplish the items on it.  Am I wrong?

If you have a bucket list, please share……I love seeing others ideas and accomplishments they wish to complete.

Let go…..when love isn’t enough.

So here’s a piece of advice: let go when you’re hurting too much.  Give up when love isn’t enough.  And move on when things aren’t like before.  And it’s certain there’s someone out there who will love you even more.

When we deal with the relationships we are willing participants of in our lives, we sometimes continue to hold on to relationships that hurt us way too much, way too often. There is a time for everything, and when love isn’t enough to hold a relationship together anymore chances are it might be time to move on.
